Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the absence of adult employees based on demographic and health-related characteristics.

Methods: This study used the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey. Data of 8,828 adult employees were weighted and analyzed using the complex sample analysis method of IBM¢ç SPSS¢ç Statistics version 22.0.

Results: The results showed that the absence of adult employees was statistically significantly related to the following factors: ¡°gender,¡± ¡°age,¡± ¡°perceived health status,¡± ¡°experience with physical discomfort during the last 2 weeks,¡± ¡°injury occurrence during the last 1 year,¡± and ¡°subjective stress perception level.¡±

Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that female workers should reduce the burden of housework, and workers should seek health care services appropriate for their age. Additionally, in order to improve employee health, companies and the government should provide workers with sufficient opportunities to rest, as well as continuous health care, including stress management strategies.
